Gas

Gas

Gas refers to petroleum-gasoline, diesel, kerosine, propane, natural gas, electricity and ALL forms of power; combustible, stored or renewable.

a flammable gas used as a fuel.
informal short for gasoline.
reference to power.

You will need a generator, a multi-fuel burning stove or furnace, possibly solar panels or hydro or wind power generators. You will need to be able to store fuel, safely. What happens when the gas stations run dry? Do you only fill up when your automobile is empty? You should maintain the discipline of keeping your tank at least half full… it doesn’t cost you any more money! Just a little investment in time. The inconvenience of having to fill up twice a week? Or the inconvenience of waiting in a queue of traffic when rationing begins?

Ask yourself:  What will I do WTSHTF? How will I cook my meals? How will I heat my home? How will I power my electronic devices? How will I drive my vehicle? Or did my failure to plan cause me to rely on an ill prepared government to look after me?

New to prepping?

I highly recommend those new to prepping check out the following article Surviving An Urban Disaster – By Richard Duarte. It’s in the June 2013 issue of SWAT Magazine (Survival Weapons and Tactics). Very well written and covers the basics… “Consider the following: The main goal of urban survival preparation/planning is to increase your chances of staying alive during and after a crisis.”   This is a basic statement and I fully agree… it’s not about having ten thousand pounds of grain stored in an...

Oil… Bitumen… Crude… Isn’t it about time we learned?

Oil… Bitumen… Crude… Isn’t it about time we learned? It’s all the same thing, regardless of labels and law. It doesn’t matter what we call it… a spill is a spill, whether it’s cause is deliberate or by accident. It doesn’t matter that Exxon say 99.9995% of all crude transported doesn’t get spilled. It’s like the gun control argument, it’s the 0.0005% that causes the problems!!! Exxon pledges ‘to cover all costs’ but I have to ask who knows what all the costs...

Words from a Bosnian Survivalist

Words from a Bosnian Survivalist Translator’s note: This tale had originally been recorded in French and then translated by two Russian survivalists who met the man. The Bosnian is anonymous for reasons which will soon be made clear from reading the articles. -MicroBalrog I am from Bosnia. You know, between 1992 and 1995, it was hell. For one year I lived, and survived, in a city with 6,000 people, without water, electricity, gasoline, medical help, civil defense, distribution service, any kind of traditional service or centralized...

The Precepts of Rawlesian Survivalist Philosophy – by James Wesley, Rawles http://www.survivalblog.com/precepts.html The following is a general summary of my survivalist philosophy: Modern Society is Increasingly Complex, Interdependent, and Fragile. With each passing year, technology progresses and chains of interdependency lengthen. In the past 30 years, chains of retail supply have grown longer and longer. The food on your supermarket shelf does not come from local farmers. It often comes from hundreds or even thousands of miles...
