Firearms in the news in both USA and Canada

In the USA…

Last Sunday, NBC sportscaster Bob Costas used his halftime segment on Sunday Night Football to call for more gun control. The media attacks on NRA started immediately, likening NRA members to white-robed Klansmen.

Bob Costas’ anti-gun rant follows in the wake of the horrifying murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre appeared on “The Glenn Beck Program” on TheBlazeTV to discuss the push for gun control following the tragedy.

LaPierre also addressed NBC Sports’ Bob Costas, who used his platform during Sunday Night Football to support gun control.

“It’s just nonsense,” he said. “What Bob Costas lost track of is that fact that this is a crime…There are a lot of ways a criminal would have committed that crime. All you have to do is look at O.J. Simpson.”

Meanwhile in Canada…

Canada’s gun lobby is pushing for looser gun laws.

Fresh from killing off Canada’s federal registry of rifles and shotguns, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s firearm-friendly Conservatives are now being urged to take aim at our remaining gun safety laws.

Personally I really do not like the style and attitude of the reporter’s anti-gun trend throughout the article.

And it would seem that Big Media and a few anti-gun / anti-violence rallies and demonstrations raised the eyebrow of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and he has issued an unexpected rebuke to his government’s own firearms advisory committee, rejecting its recommendations and suggesting the group’s membership may need revisiting.

Now I understand their point of view (the demonstrators and Big Media) but I don’t agree with their narrow-minded self-righteous self-satisfying egotistical do-gooder attitudes. Here’s something to think about… let’s jump ahead five years:

Law abiding citizens who are not legally allowed to own firearms cannot defend themselves in their own homes from illegally armed criminals!!!

STOP AND THINK you painfully naive politically-correct oh-so blinkered fools. Criminals are CRIMINAL… they chose to ignore the laws and therefore can possess ANY illegal substance / item / weapon that they can purchase with their illegal money gained from their illegal activities.

Criminals should be dealt with the same as terrorists, NOT law-abiding gun-owners treat the same as Criminals!

Have you noticed that the people who are pro-humanitarian anti-capital-punishment anti-death-penalty and oh-so-moralistic are also the same ones who are anti-gun !?

Let’s face it, they are also anti-disciplinarians, because they don’t believe in chastising an errant child (they would rather give them a time-out). That child without appropriate boundaries and effective disciplinary measures could later in life become a troublesome teen, or a vandal, or a drug abuser, or a violent drunk, or a rapist, or a murderer, or any other kind of miscreant. Let’s face it, these narrow-minded politically correct fools want world peace and good will to all men… as long as we kill all members of al-qaeda!

  1. I am still waiting for the day when we actually start punishing the Criminals, and not the innocent law abiding citizens. We have gun control, but where does it stop? I already register my car. Do i have to register my knives and my bow and arrow next too? These are all very effective killing tools if in the hands of a bad person who wants to kill with them. Gun control is not a solution. its a bigger problem and a revenue generator for our governments.
